I came across the following while doing research regarding Emily Light at the Hackensack, New Jersey, Public Library. It had been used as a column filler for The Bergen Evening Record, Friday, May 17, 1940, page 6.

Pittsburgh, May 17 – Supplies of barbed wire adequate for national defense requirements could be made available in the United States without further expansion of production facilities. This statement came today from Major Richard E. Brown, Signal Corps Reserve officer.
